Amory First is a church that believes in Jesus Christ and believes that we exist to carry on Jesus' mission of bringing God's goodness on earth as it is in heaven.
Sixty-six percent of the world's population doesn't live in a meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ. That's a stat God cares about and so do we. In the City of Amory, that translates into a little more than 5,000 people. God is stirring up our hearts for our friends and neighbors to come to know of his love and mercy.
We know that prayer can open doors and hearts so we tied 5,000 ribbons on banners and hung them throughout our sanctuary and started praying for our community. We are a church committed to praying for people in our community so Jesus Christ's grace and love may be known to all.
Poverty exists not just in places on the other side of the globe. It exists right here in our own backyard. Amory First cares about serving the poor so they may know of God's goodness on earth as it is in heaven.
Mother Teresa once said, "If you can't feed a hundred people, then just feed one." From volunteering at the Amory Food Pantry to buying school supplies to sharing a meal with someone just passing through town, each one of us is motivated to serve one who is in need. This mission reflects Jesus' example of compassion and mercy towards the poor we see in the gospels.
